Personally, I don't like anything as a second to mesmer. But if I were forced to, I'd go Necro. Master of hexes.

Or monk. All you need is Resurect, really. With Fast Casting, you can cut resu's cast time big time. =)

Necro is good to blanket rubbishy hexes over your pure quality mesmer hexes.
Monk provides probably the best 'luxury' support character in the game.
Ele provides large damage... not much else
Warrior provides the famous IW-er build
Ranger... doesnt do much

I've been playing me/w for awhile, went illusion, domination, tactics skills I use would include Backfire,Empathy,Blackout,Illusionary weapon,Sheild stance, healing sig. I like to backfire casters then follow up with blackout-while blackout is up I'll melee off illusionary weapon. If warriors focus me I'll sheild stance/healing sig, sometimes empathy. I also Flurry,it speeds up my weapon and has no real draw back.

Alright, so right now, i am deciding between a necro and a monk. And so fast casting applies to all skills, not just mesmer ones?

All spells, regardless of class, benefit from Fast Casting.
Spells only, though.

Yeah, fast casting is all spells. Personally id say monk out of those two, if only for fact that i hate necros. Whatsmore, you can go "PROTECTIVE SPIRIT WOOT" like everyone else here, just youll get more aggro than as a necro, people always go for anything with Mo in it.

Yeah, i dunno, i hate necro's as a primary because they are useless, but secondary, meh, some curses are not bad. Or i could even go blood magic to get some regen on me. Monk would be pretty sweet though.

I've tried them all, and I settled as a mesmer/monk (getting some necro skills now as well, but still, having more fun playing mesmer/monk). Protection is awesome to have in areas such as the Underworld. Domination/Protection does give you a double task, but it's fun as hell. Besides, most of the time I play pure mesmer, and in that case the Monk is useful for his resurrection spells (which you cast awesomely fast.)

I would say Monk. I play a Mo/Me and I use the Mesmer Elite "Echo" so increase the amount of times I can cast certain spells. With a Me/Mo you would have fast casting healing spells.
